In Solo Leveling, the Monarchs are nine of the most powerful entities of destruction in the universe, opposed to the Rulers (the Fragments of Brilliant Light) in an ancient cosmic war. For an overview of this mythology, see the complete guide on the Rulers and the Monarchs.
Who is Querehsha?
Querehsha is the Monarch of Plagues, one of the nine Monarchs of Solo Leveling and one of the most feared. Ruler of insect-type creatures, she reigns over countless swarms of monsters that are bound to her will.
Renowned as one of the cruelest and most powerful Monarchs, Querehsha embodies overwhelming numbers: where others rely on brute force, she drowns her enemies in a tide of creatures.
The Monarch of Insects and the origin of Beru
Querehsha's domain, insects, is significant for readers: it is from this lineage that giant ants, including the famous Ant King, descend. This Ant King would eventually become one of Sung Jin-Woo's most iconic shadows.
To understand this fascinating connection, read our article on Beru, the most powerful soldier of the Shadow Army.
Her place in the War of the Monarchs
Like all Monarchs, Querehsha participates in the assault against humanity and the Rulers. Her power makes her a top-tier adversary in the conflict between the two factions, led by Antares, the Monarch of Destruction.
The origins of the Monarchs
The nine Monarchs are not mere monsters: they are forces of destruction born to annihilate creation, opposed since time immemorial to the Rulers. Querehsha, through her ability to submerge the world under swarms of creatures, perfectly illustrates this vocation for large-scale annihilation.
The Monarchs, Gates, and Sung Jin-Woo
If humanity has a chance against such entities, it is thanks to a plan woven in the shadows: the Gates and dungeons invading Earth herald the arrival of the Monarchs. To prepare a champion capable of facing them, the Shadow Sovereign forged the System. Discover how the Gates and dungeons work, the System that provides power leveling, and the journey of Sung Jin-Woo, heir to the Shadow Sovereign.
