SPOILER Warning: this article reveals the complete ending of Solo Leveling (webtoon and light novel). If you haven't finished the story, it's better to stop here!
How does Solo Leveling end? After hundreds of chapters, the story of Sung Jin-Woo concludes with an ending that is both epic and touching. We explain the ending to you in detail.
The final battle against Antares
The climax pits Sung Jin-Woo against Antares, the Dragon Monarch, the most powerful of the Monarchs. With the help of the Rulers, the Shadow Monarch manages to defeat Antares and the final Monarchs. But the victory has a price: countless lives have been lost and the world is devastated.
The Cup of Reincarnation: turning back time
To fix these tragedies, Jin-Woo uses a divine artifact, the Cup of Reincarnation, to turn back time to a period before the appearance of the gates. He thus erases the catastrophe and brings back to life all those who died — becoming the shadow hero who saved the world without anyone knowing.
27 years of solo combat
To achieve this, Jin-Woo faces the Monarchs once again in an isolated dimension. There, time flows differently: he endures 27 years of uninterrupted combat… while only about 2 years pass in the real world. A colossal sacrifice, true to the character.
Life after the reset
Back in the new timeline, Jin-Woo resumes a normal life, voluntarily aging his appearance so as not to attract attention. Little by little, he crosses paths again with the faces of the former world: Go Gun-Hee, Yoo Jinho, Lee Joohee, Woo Jin-Chul… and especially a certain S-rank hunter.
Cha Hae-In, marriage and little Suho
Jin-Woo makes his reunion with Cha Hae-In a priority. Their relationship grows, and they end up getting married and having a son, Sung Suho. In this world now free from gates and monsters, Jin-Woo even chooses a new path: becoming a detective, and continuing to administer justice using his powers.
The meaning of the ending
The end of Solo Leveling beautifully wraps up the hero’s arc: from the weakest hunter to the Shadow Monarch capable of rewriting the world’s fate, Jin-Woo eventually finds peace and happiness with his family. A finale that rewards sacrifice with restored calm.
